Christian Children’s Book Precedents

September 28, 2010

Christian Children’s book precedents from my church. One of the book series uses a rough, pencil work aesthetic with single colour rendering on every second page. I really like this style as it keeps the reader interested and it’s nice to see a loose style rather than a fully polished and rendered style like I am used to seeing.

The book about the house on the rock uses small illustrations on the pages with text to link back to the illustration on the opposite page. I will be doing something similar by illustrating the first letter on each page of my book, linking the text in with the illustration.

School Journal Illustrations

Some illustration styles from various School Journals which I like. This will give me something to aim for and to compare with to see if my illustrations are successful.
